Peachtree Heights Real Estate
Approximately 400 homes make up the Peachtree Heights section of Buckhead (also referred to as Peachtree Heights West). Most home styles tend to be classical and traditional, although the introduction of enormous, newly constructed estates have started to take over in the last few years. Most homes, however, are priced at around $400,000.
A recent movement – a combined effort between the community and the historic preservation community - to preserve the original homes, gardens and neighborhoods of Peachtree Heights is underway. The primary focus is on maintaining the homes of Muscogee Avenue, West Wesley Road, Slaton Drive, Andrews Drive, Cherokee Road, Habersham Road, Habersham Way and Rivers Road.
Peachtree Heights Luxury Homes and Real Estate
Peachtree Heights was originally developed on land which was purchased from the estate of Wesley Gray Collier 1910 and was marketed as the “best of city and suburban life.” Developers included Eretus Rivers and Walter P. Andrews.
Carrere and Hastings, a well-known New York architectural firm, developed the design for the street layout, which included designs for a massive, landscaped, residential park with towering hardwoods.
Peachtree Heights is the only known suburb designed by the Carrere and Hastings architectural firm. Many national architects and landscape architects designed the homes and gardens in the area. Because of this, the neighborhood of Peachtree Heights was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
Many of the homes in Peachtree Heights have historical significance, such as the Andrew-Dunn home (designated a landmark building in 1992), which was designed by Ivey and Crook, and 78 West Wesley Road, which was designed by Samuel Inman Cooper in the mid 1930s and was the home of the family of one of Atlanta's most famous New South journalists.
Some of Atlanta’s best schools are found in Peachtree Heights, including E. Rivers Elementary, Sutton Middle School and North Atlanta High School.
Another point of interest in Peachtree Heights is Sibley Park, located at Habersham Way and West Wesley Road. It is a densely wooded conservation park. The Peachtree Battle Shopping Center is within walking distance of the homes in the neighborhood, as is the Peachtree Hills Park, which features one of the city’s oldest gymnasiums.
Peachtree Heights also boasts a close proximity to Buckhead and all of its shopping, dining and entertainment venues.
