According to an article running in today's Atlanta Journal Constitution (aka The AJC) there are over 8400 properties slated for the courthouse steps auction next month. Each metro Atlanta county conducts foreclosure auctions on the first Tuesday of each month, next month is scheduled for February 3rd.

Fulton County Has 1838

The county with the largest amount is Fulton with 1838 properties on the books, followed by Gwinnett and DeKalb. The county with the fewest is Fayette, located south of Atlanta, with only 128.

The new number of 8400 sets an all-time high (or low) for the number of foreclosures scheduled for auction, the previous high was 7967. Which was established just this past September.

Dylan Darling wrote: Wow! 8400 foreclosures. Our foreclosure rate is pretty high as well, but not many are selling at the courthouse steps. Are you seeing multiple offers on foreclosures? We are seeing the banks pricing homes lower and receiving multiple offers.

Chelle wrote: Wow, that is a lot of foreclosures - it's sad to think that many people have lost their homes, but its also an excellent opportunity for buyers. One of my friends just grabbed an unbelievable deal on a foreclosure here...he probably wouldn't have been able to afford a home otherwise.

It is interesting to look back at this article and see these numbers. I wonder how they compare now?

I understand they went back up again this month.
