Roswell Real Estate

Roswell, Georgia: Despite its roots in history, Roswell is very much connected to the modern age. A little over 20 miles away from Atlanta, it is an excellent compromise between smaller town living and the big city. Real estate in Roswell is a good investment, as there are plenty of business and career opportunities in this city and other suburbs of Atlanta.

Historic Roswell Homes and Real Estate

July, 1864. The smoke has barely cleared around the blackened remnants of what was once a thriving mill, built by industrialist Roswell King in 1830. The streets are silent, as the 400-odd millworkers ― most of them women and children ― have been forced up north by General Sherman's troops.

Most will never return to this quiet town, even after the Civil War ends. There are plenty of guesses as to their fates, but only a select number of people can trace their ancestry back to the lucky few who were courageous enough to make the journey back.

Many Roswell properties stand solely because soldiers were ordered to protect private property, only burning the buildings that supported Confederate troops. Most Roswell homes are only a walk away from the Barrington Hall, a monument to Greek Revival Temple Architecture, standing since the 1840s. Roswell residents can explore the Smith Plantation Home, another 1840s home that is now serving as a living history museum.

Almost 150 years later, the story of these Roswell people is not forgotten. Despite the fast-paced nature of life in the 21st century, the city of Roswell reminds one of the gracious nature of yesteryear. The exquisitly maintained heritage buildings and true Southern friendliness of Roswell residents makes this definitely a place to consider calling home.
