Nearly a century later, the Plaster family sold their 1,300-acre farm to developers who were interested in transforming the area into a community that capitalized on the many convenience of living near Atlanta. Peachtree Hills Luxury Homes and Real Estate
The first sight in Peachtree Hills was the Peachtree Terrace subdivision, which was originally the J.A. Plaster Estate. The Peachtree Hurst subdivision, which was built in 1912, is now the site of one of the oldest homes in the area. The other original subdivision at that time was Peachtree Hills Place. Many of the homes were built as small, summer retreats by wealthy Atlanta residents.
Today, the original craftsman-style and Tudor homes, tucked among the mature trees, speak of the history of this town. Although situated close to the city, Peachtree Hills has kept its small-town charm, thanks in part to an active and dedicated civic association.
The median price for a home in Peachtree Hills is approximately $400,000, although some of the larger homes can top $800,000. There are many apartment homes available in the area, as well.
The neighborhood of Peachtree Hills is now divided by Peachtree Hills Avenue, which is home to many of the town’s shops and restaurants. The Peachtree Battle Shopping Center, which is home to many shopping and dining venues, is also located close by, on Peachtree Road. Other areas of interest include the Peachtree Hills Gym and the Lindbergh MARTA rail station.
The public schools of Peachtree Hills include E. Rivers Elementary, Sutton Middle School and North Atlanta High School.
Improvements to the Peachtree Hills Park, a popular spot in the area, are now underway. Improvements expected include walking/running paths, landscaping, better lighting and bench seating. The seven-acre park currently features a recreation center, a softball field, lighted tennis courts and a playground.
