According to an article running in today's Atlanta Journal Constitution (aka The AJC) there are over 8400 properties slated for the courthouse steps auction next month. Each metro Atlanta county conducts foreclosure auctions on the first Tuesday of each month, next month is scheduled for February 3rd.
The county with the largest amount is Fulton with 1838 properties on the books, followed by Gwinnett and DeKalb. The county with the fewest is Fayette, located south of Atlanta, with only 128.
The new number of 8400 sets an all-time high (or low) for the number of foreclosures scheduled for auction, the previous high was 7967. Which was established just this past September.

Dylan, we're running into that with the banks as well. Many banks are pricing the homes for a quick sell and we're getting offers that are over the list price.
Thanks for visiting our blog.
Wow, that is a lot of foreclosures - it's sad to think that many people have lost their homes, but its also an excellent opportunity for buyers. One of my friends just grabbed an unbelievable deal on a foreclosure here...he probably wouldn't have been able to afford a home otherwise.
that is an astonishing number! so are the people losing their homes moving into rentals? are rents on the rise?
Greg, many are vacant and sitting empty. Another recent stat came out, and Atlanta was 3rd in the country for vacant properties. It's a great time to be a buyer!
Thanks for visiting.
